Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) is a public higher education institution in Vietnam, established in 1966, specializing in civil engineering, architecture, and related construction disciplines.
The Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) is a leading public higher education institution in Vietnam, renowned for its contributions to civil engineering, scientific research, and technology transfer [12]. It provides high-quality human resources for the country's construction and infrastructure development [12].
Officially recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, HUCE offers a comprehensive range of academic programs, including undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees [3, 4]. These programs span various fields within engineering and architecture, reflecting the university's multidisciplinary approach [4].
With a strong emphasis on practical skills and research, HUCE aims to prepare versatile engineers and architects capable of addressing the evolving demands of the construction industry both domestically and internationally [4]. The university maintains strong ties with industry partners to facilitate internships and career opportunities for its graduates [4].
Hanoi University of Civil Engineering was officially established on August 8, 1966, by the Government Council of Vietnam [5, 6]. Its origins trace back to the Faculty of Construction, which was part of Hanoi University of Science and Technology for a decade prior to HUCE's independence [6].
During the Vietnam War, the university underwent several evacuations from Hanoi to various locations in Ha Bac and Vinh Phu provinces to ensure continued operation [5]. By the end of 1983, it began its return to Hanoi, and by 1991, the entire university was consolidated at its current main campus [5, 6].
In a significant administrative change on August 13, 2021, the institution officially adopted its current name, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, formerly known as the National University of Civil Engineering, reaffirming its connection to the capital city [1]. This change unified and synchronized its brand identity with partners globally and locally [1].
Hanoi University of Civil Engineering is structured with 14 faculties and 55 academic departments, offering a broad spectrum of specialized programs [5, 6]. These faculties are pivotal in delivering diverse educational opportunities across various engineering and architectural disciplines.
Prominent faculties include Civil and Industrial Engineering, Road and Bridge, Construction Materials, Construction Economics, and Architecture and Planning [3]. Other key areas of study encompass Environmental Engineering, Water Resources and Infrastructures, Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, and Construction Information Technology [3].
These specialized faculties enable the university to conduct advanced scientific research and technology transfer, contributing significantly to national development in construction and infrastructure. The faculty members are highly qualified, including professors and associate professors, who are dedicated to both teaching and research [6].
