Duy Tan University is a private, multidisciplinary higher education institution located in Da Nang, Vietnam, established in 1994.
Duy Tan University (DTU) is recognized as the first and largest private, multidisciplinary institution in Central Vietnam, situated in the coastal city of Da Nang [1, 15]. Founded in 1994, the university has steadily grown, aligning its ambitions with the city's development into a modern, international metropolis. Its motto, \"We Do Everything for Student Rights and Future Careers,\" reflects a strong commitment to student success and career preparation [1, 8].
DTU has established a significant reputation both domestically and internationally, appearing in global university rankings as a highly ranked Vietnamese university [8]. The institution emphasizes strong international connections through its \"partnering with giants\" slogan, offering numerous double-degree programs in collaboration with renowned foreign universities such as Purdue University and Carnegie Mellon University in the USA [1, 10].
The university's mission is to foster dynamic, creative, and well-rounded graduates who possess Vietnamese humanitarian values, a sense of community, and self-confidence, equipping them to become global citizens. With a wide array of academic programs and a focus on research, DTU has contributed significantly to the local labor market, with a high percentage of its graduates finding employment within a year of graduation [10].
Duy Tan University was officially established on November 11, 1994, through a decree by the Prime Minister of Vietnam [6, 15]. The foundation of the university was preceded by the establishment of its Board of Foundation on August 15, 1992, with Mr. Le Cong Co appointed as its head [6]. This marked the beginning of efforts to create a private university in Central Vietnam.
Since its inception, DTU has continually expanded its academic offerings and infrastructure. By November 1997, its first campus at 137 Nguyen Van Linh was operational, followed by larger facilities, including a 12-story building opened in September 2002 [8]. In 2009, DTU was authorized to offer postgraduate training programs and was listed by the Ministry of Education and Training for quality assessment [6].
Over nearly three decades, Duy Tan University has achieved notable milestones, including receiving a Second-Class Labor Medal from the government for its educational achievements from 2009-2014 [6]. It became the first private university in Vietnam to receive a Certificate of National Education Quality in 2017 [6]. The university has also been recognized for its research contributions and consistently ranks among the top Vietnamese institutions in international rankings [1, 10].
Duy Tan University offers a comprehensive range of academic programs across various disciplines, structured into distinct schools and faculties. Key areas include Information Technology, which was established at the university's foundation in 1994 and boasts an almost 100% job placement rate for its graduates [12]. The university also has strong programs in Electrical Engineering, known for its investment in robotics and FPGA laboratories [12].
The School of Business & Economics is another prominent area, encompassing majors like Business Administration, Accountancy, Finance & Banking, and Economic Law [11, 12]. The Hospitality & Tourism School is significant, especially given Da Nang's status as a tourist city, and offers programs with international accreditations such as UNWTO TedQual [12, 10].
Furthermore, DTU has developed robust faculties in Civil Engineering and Architecture, with the latter being the first of its kind in a private institution in Central Vietnam [12]. The university also houses faculties dedicated to Medical Sciences, including Medicine, Pharmacology, and Nursing, and offers programs in Humanities and Social Sciences, and Foreign Languages [12].
