The genesis of Dalat University dates back to August 8, 1957, when it was initially established as Viện Đại học Đà Lạt (The University Institute of Dalat). This original institution was founded as a private Catholic university by the Council of Vietnamese Catholic Bishops, with the support of Archbishop Pierre Martin Ngô Đình Thục, aiming to create a center for education in the region [1].
Following the Fall of Saigon in 1975 and the reunification of Vietnam, the university underwent a significant transformation. On October 27, 1976, it was reorganized and officially re-established as Đại học Đà Lạt (Dalat University), transitioning from a private to a public institution under the management of the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam [1, 2].
Since its re-establishment as a public university, Dalat University has continued to grow and evolve. It has expanded its academic offerings and infrastructure to become a multidisciplinary institution dedicated to training human resources for the Central Highlands and South Central Coast regions of Vietnam. The university has steadily increased its student enrollment and staff, solidifying its position as a key educational hub in the area [3].
