The rise of AI-powered creators — virtual influencers, AI-assisted human creators, and automated content personas — is reshaping marketing, media, and the very definition of a "creator."

The global virtual influencer market reached $11.74 billion in 2026, surpassing earlier projections, with forecasts placing it at $154.6 billion by 2032 at a 41.29% CAGR. 

In the UK, on the other hand, the picture is striking. YouTube's creative ecosystem alone contributed over £2.2 billion to the UK's GDP in 2024 and supported more than 45,000 full-time equivalent jobs, according to an Oxford Economics-led impact report. The government has taken notice: in September 2025, an all-party parliamentary group (APPG) dedicated to representing the creator industry was launched, supported by Labour MP Feryal Clark, with backing from prominent YouTubers.

For UK micro-influencers in particular, AI has been a leveller. The combination of AI-driven discovery, evolving platform algorithms, and a growing appetite for genuine connection has created a moment that smaller British creators are uniquely positioned to own. 

The UK remains one of Europe's most ambitious influencer markets, with brands and agencies scaling quickly, testing new formats, and leaning into creators who can drive strong engagement.
