Geography and Climate

Agartala is located in western Tripura near the India–Bangladesh border and lies within the floodplains of the Haora River. The city consists primarily of low-lying plains, while its northern sections gradually extend into rolling hills. Its geographic position has historically made it a strategic trading settlement linking Tripura with Bengal and present-day Bangladesh.

The city experiences a humid subtropical climate influenced by the southwest monsoon. Summers are hot and humid, extending from April to October, while winters remain mild and comparatively dry.
