Living With Sunny: Indian Award-winning Filmmaker Kireet Khurana Shares His Opinions On The Prevalent Issues In Wellness
Categories :
Filmmaker Kireet Khurana joins Sunny (Gurpreet) Singh and Thomas Power in the seventh episode of the ‘Living with Sunny’ Youtube podcast series. The three experts discuss the most prevalent issues in wellness: homelessness in India, poverty, impactful filmmaking, and more. Living with Sunny’s episode 7 is out now on YouTube and chosen podcast destinations.
Kireet Khurana is an Indian animator. In his career of 12 years, he has made over 300 short films, documentary films, ad films and also directed India’s first live action-3D animation film “Toonpur Ka Superhero”. Over the years he has won 5 President’s National Awards and 3 International Awards including Japan and Austria. He shares his extensive knowledge as a director with the listeners.
Khurana feels that he has a calling to make meaningful films, regardless of how popular the topic may be. “67 million is the population of France. You have 70 million destitute people in India. And you’re telling me that there is no market for this film? What kind of market are we talking about? Who is going to stand up for them? I mean, there are 42 million sex workers who are, most of them are victims of human trafficking. I know that there is no market for it, but is it about the market? Or is it about having a heart?” says Khurana.
In the corporate responsibility area, Singh has made a plea for the corporations to:
“For every corporation in the world should take ownership of a social initiative, or more than one, or a partial social initiative. Something they’re passionate about and something they believe in. But take ownership of it, don’t write a cheque to a charity. Partner up with it but you own it. Because companies are the best at solving problems, why, because that’s why they were formed in the first place, to solve a problem. That would cause a sea change”.
