Henning Walczak is Professor of Cancer Biology at University College London (UCL), United Kingdom, and Scientific Director of the Cancer Research UK-UCL Centre. He is also the Humboldt Professor at the University of Cologne, Germany. As a Humboldt Professor at the University of Cologne, Henning Walczak is managing the “from bench to bedside” approach to amalgamate pre-clinical and clinical research to a greater extent. He recently moved to Cologne, from London and is also helping expand interdisciplinary metabolism research there. Recently he is working to find best solutions to solve and find Covid-19 medication.
Born in Germany, Professor Walczak previously conducted research at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg and also worked for the biotech company Immunex Corportation in Seattle, United States. In 2007, Walczak transferred to London, initially to Imperial College and then to UCL. He has received numerous major awards, including an ERC Advanced Grant and the Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator Award. After being awarded the Humboldt Professorship in 2019, he joined the University of Cologne in June to expand his research there.
