Professor Yu Xiong
Professor Yu Xiong is an academic, researcher and serial entrepreneur. Prof Yu Xiong is currently the President of Magna Carta Island International Innovation Centre and Chair of Technology and Operations Management in Newcastle Business School of Northumbria University. Professor Xiong is also a Fellow of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, University of Cambridge and a visiting Fellow of Durham University Business School.
Additionally, Professor Xiong has extensive industrial experience. Xiong is the chief scientist of Jiukuan Tech Ltd, which specializes in developing leading blockchain applications, and Co-Chair of Cocoon Global, the largest innovation space in London. He is also the current President-Elect of Chinese Economic Association of EU/UK. .
Prof Yu Xiong’s economic impact can be felt throughout his different initiatives. For example, he is the Director of Yingde Group, which currently invests in over 100 projects, and allocates more than 30 million pounds per year via immigration fund. He is also the Chair of the Management Board of UKDE Ltd, a blockchain finance company.
As a researcher, Professor Yu Xiong has been publishing constantly in international journals, including European Journal of Operational Research and International Journal of Production Research while he has been lead guest editors to many international excellence journals, including International Journal of Operations, Production and Management and PInternational Journal of Technology Management, Technovation, etc. He is winner of the prestigious 4th May Medal, presented by the Chongqing Government of China. Because of his contribution to innovation and globalization, he was selected by the London Olympic Committee to be a 2012 Olympic Torchbearer.
