The next edition of The World Games is scheduled from August 7-17 2025 at Chengdu, China. The Global Esports Federation (GEF) and International World Games Association (IWGA) sign a Strategic Framework Agreement (SFA) to feature esports for the first time at the event.
The Global Esports Federation (GEF) and the International World Games Association (IWGA), the organisers of The World Games have officially announced a partnership to introduce esports in the upcoming 12th edition of the World Games in Chengdu, China 2025. The event is set to take place in Chengdu from August 7th to 17th, 2025.

Our partnership brings immense opportunities, starting with The World Games Chengdu 2025, where we anticipate a vibrant fusion of traditional sports and revolutionary esports as part of the entertainment programme. The partnership between GEF and The World Games follows the recent announcement by the International Olympics Committee (IOC) to consider including esports that promote traditional Olympic sports. While the IOC will primarily focus on esports that complement existing sports, The World Games features non-Olympic disciplines, offering a potential opportunity for popular esports to be featured in this worldwide competition.

The World Games 2025, governed by the International World Games Association under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee, will be held in Chengdu, China 2025. Featuring 30 to 35 sports not included in the Olympic Games, the event gathers approximately 4,000 athletes from around 100 nations. Unlike the Olympics, host cities for The World Games are not required to build new venues. Athletes qualify through international federations, ensuring elite competitors across various disciplines participate in this prestigious global event.
